What is Agreed-Upon Procedures?
In an agreed-upon procedures (AUP) engagement, the practitioner performs specific procedures agreed by the company and, where relevant, a third party, and reports the results as factual findings. Unlike a full audit, no assurance opinion is expressed; the report consists of concrete findings from which readers draw their own conclusions.
This flexibility makes AUP ideal for targeted needs such as loan covenants, franchise and licence payments, grant and incentive expenditure, or verifying specific account balances.
