What is Enterprise value and equity value?

Enterprise value is the value of a business's operations to all providers of finance; equity value is what remains for shareholders after deducting net debt and similar items.

In bridging from enterprise to equity value, net debt is considered alongside non-controlling interests, debt-like items (such as severance pay provisions and tax liabilities) and non-operating assets. This bridge is central to purchase price negotiations.
