What is Revenue from contracts with customers (TFRS 15)?

The standard requiring revenue to be recognised to depict the transfer of goods or services to customers, at the amount the entity expects to be entitled to.

TFRS 15 sets out a five-step model: (1) identify the contract, (2) identify the performance obligations, (3) determine the transaction price, (4) allocate the transaction price to the performance obligations, (5) recognise revenue as the performance obligations are satisfied.

In areas such as construction, software, subscriptions and bundled sales, the timing of revenue requires significant judgement and is often a key audit matter.
