TFRS 18 / IFRS 18 Advisory

TFRS 18 takes effect from 2027 and will replace the current TAS 1 "Presentation of Financial Statements".

A new era begins: transparent and comparable reporting with TFRS 18

TFRS 18 takes effect from 2027 and will replace the current TAS 1 "Presentation of Financial Statements". The new standard brings fundamental changes to the income statement, note disclosures, performance measures and the overall integrity of the financial statements. This transformation is not merely a matter of technical compliance; it also means restructuring corporate transparency, investor confidence and internal reporting processes.

What does TFRS 18 bring?

  • Mandatory operating profit: Standardised subtotals are introduced in the income statement.

  • Five categories in the income statement: Classification into operating, investing, financing, income taxes and discontinued operations is mandatory.

  • Management-defined performance measures (MPMs): The definition, calculation and reconciliation to TFRS subtotals must be disclosed.

  • Disaggregation of expenses: If expenses are presented by function, items such as depreciation and staff costs must be disclosed by nature in the notes.

  • New principles for note presentation: Disaggregated disclosure of aggregated information becomes mandatory.

Transition challenges

The transition to TFRS 18 requires restructuring not only accounting policies but also reporting systems, financial statement templates and performance reports. In the transition year, 2027, the 2026 financial statements must also be presented retrospectively under the new standard.
